Other species we will be after today include Maroon-chinned Fruit Dove, Sulawesi Myna and Ivory-backed Woodswallow.
Another morning photographing at Tambun, then we check out and have a 5-to-6-hour transfer back to Manado where we stay in a nice hotel.
We have a morning flight to Ternate a small island near Halmahera. Then we will take the ferry across to Halmahera. We will visit blinds in the Sidangoli area today which attract both Ivory-breasted and North Moluccan Pittas. This is a good area for Common Paradise and Sombre Kingfishers. In the evening, we will return to our hotel in Sofifi.

There are usually some Rainbow Bee-eaters and Dollarbirds around. Then we will take the afternoon ferry to Waigeo. We stay in a nice diving resort here, with plenty of birds on the grounds. Lodge: Waigeo
This will be a very special morning as we visit a blind which is set on the stunning Wilson’s Bird of Paradise lek. The walk to the blind is only about ten minutes. These birds display close by on the forest floor. Some other species we have a good chance of photographing here include Papuan Dwarf and Yellow-billed Kingfishers, Papuan Pitta and many more. In the afternoon we will photograph near the resort where Papuan Eclectus, Beach Kingfisher and Moustached Treeswits can often be found. A nice diving resort.
This morning, we will visit a lek for Red Bird of Paradise. Again, this is a short walk. Other species we will be on the lookout for this morning include Hook-billed Kingfisher, Papuan Frogmouth and Palm Cockatoo. In the afternoon we will photograph in some open forest looking for among other birds the magnificent Western Crowned Pigeon, Great-billed Parrot, Claret-breasted, Orange-bellied and Dwarf Fruit-Doves and Golden Monarch. Hoel: A nice diving resort.
We will have another morning session at either of the Bird of Paradise Leks, then after searching out other species we will check out and take the ferry back to Sorong. We will check in to our hotel then, if time allows do a bit of bird photography near the marina and mangroves. Hotel: A nice hotel in Sorong.
