ABOUT CUBA PHOTO TOUR

This tour features 6 days at a birding lodge located on the edge of Cuba’s largest national park and best bird photography area, the Zapata Swamp.  The lodge has feeders for both hummingbirds and other birds.  We will also spend some time in old town Havana taking in the sites as well as visiting a local park which is good for birds.  Some of the highlights include Bee Hummingbird and Cuban Emerald which come to the hummingbird feeders at the lodge, spectacular endemics such as Cuban Trogon, Cuban Tody, Bare-legged Owl, Cuban Amazon, Blue-headed Quail Dove and many more.  American Flamingos and other waders inhabit the nearby lagoon and many wintering American wood warblers are in the area this time of year.  Nonphotographer spouses and companions can enjoy the Cuban culture and there is a beach quite near our lodge.
  • Photograph the Bee Hummingbird, the smallest bird in the world as well as the beautiful Cuban Emerald.

  • Photograph other birds including wintering American Wood Warblers, American Flamingos and other species.

  • Photograph many beautiful endemic birds including the Cuban Trogon, Cuban Tody, Blue-headed Quail Dove, Cuban Amazon and Yellow-headed Warbler, Cuban Pygmy Owl and Bare-legged Owl.

  • Engage with local Cuban lodge owners about the culture, bird photography and birding in each of our countries.  Support small Cuban hotels, restaurants and travel companies.
