HUNGARY BIRD PHOTO TOUR

In the summer Hungary has some of the best bird photography in the world. Tower hides with Rollers, Red-footed Falcons, Kestrels and Jackdaws at eye level. Water drip reflection pool hides which attract up to 20 species of songbirds in a session, waterbird hides where you can photograph waterfowl and terns up close, hides for the amazing Hoopoe and hides which are set up on Bee-eater colonies.
Number of Participants: Maximum of 6 photographers.
Cost and Logistics
The cost is $4,950 with a $400 single supplement, $4,450 for a nonphotographer spouse/companion. Deposit to reserve your spot is $1,300. The cost includes all lodging, meals, transportation within Hungary, guiding, photo instruction and blind fees fees. It does not include flights to arrive in Hungary, tips or items of a personal nature. The arrival and departure city is Budapest, Hungary. We will pick you up and drop you off at the airport.
Itinerary
June 3rd – Pickup at the airport and transfer to a four star hotel near the airport. Evening dinner and introductions. Hotel: A 4 star hotel near the Budapest airport.
June 4th – A bit of morning bird photography near the hotel then transfer to the top bird photography lodge in Hungary. Afternoon hide photography session. The premier bird photography lodge in Hungary. There are hides within walking distance of the lodge.
Jun 5th-11th – We will spend seven full days photographing from the many different blinds situated within Hortobagy National Park. Most of the blinds hold 3-4 photographers so the group will split up each session. Each day will have a morning session, then return to the lodge for lunch, then an afternoon session. The tower hides with nest boxes attached to nearby perches and trees are one of the highlights as we will photograph beautiful European Rollers, Red-footed Falcons and Eurasian Kestrels. The chances for interaction shots are very good at these towers. The drinking reflection pool blinds are another highlight where you can get beautiful reflection shots of Tits, Woodpeckers, Robins, Thrushes and other songbirds. Eurasian Sparrowhawks often visit these pools and one of them has resident Common Kingfishers. The waterside hides are excellent for a variety of waterbirds including Great Crested and Little Grebes, Ferruginous Ducks, Whiskered Terns, Pygmy Cormorants, Squacco Herons and many other species. The amazing Hoopoes will be breeding this time of year and there are hides which are situated near their nesting holes, allowing for great flight and feeding shots. The European Bee-eater colonies are another highlight, allowing for many flight shots and interaction shots. The premier bird photography lodge in Hungary.
June 12th – We will have one more morning of blind photography, then have lunch, check out and drive back to Budapest. We will do a bit of afternoon walk around photography near the lodge or review images. Hotel: A 4 star hotel near the Budapest airport.
June 13th – Check out and transfer back to the airport for your return trip home or if you also did the Slovenia tour you can ride back to Slovenia with Jure.

Jure Novak
Jure Novak is a full time nature photographer, tour leader and filmmaker from Slovenia. His work is widely published in Slovenia and he is one of the filmmakers of “Wild Slovenia”, a motion picture. Jure is an excellent birder and bird guide in addition to being a very talented photographer. He uses Sony gear.
